Mount Ida in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas is one of the most significant quartz localities in the United States, producing some of the clearest, most well-terminated natural quartz in the world. This scepter quartz shows the distinctive scepter formation: a secondary crystal that has grown over the tip of an original point, creating a capped terminal with the earlier crystal visible within. The Arkansas origin gives this piece both geological and collecting provenance significance.
